First Presbyterian Church, founded in 1890, is a congregation of the Gulf South Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church located on the Gulf Coast in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Happenings at First Presbyterian Church

Advent 4, 2014  12/21/14  (8:30 AM - 11:45 AM)
The Rev. Matt Mitchell will preach at 8:30 a.m. (contemporary) and 10:45 a.m. (traditional) services of worship.

Sunday School  12/21/14  (9:30 AM - 10:30 AM)
The Chapel Sunday School class continues a study of Acts. The Seekers class will begin a study of John on January 4.

Adult Choir Rehearsal  12/21/14  (10:00 AM - 10:30 AM)
Ric Sawyer, director of music, leads weekly rehearsals in the Choir Room.

Sunday Youth Groups  12/21/14  (4:00 PM - 7:30 PM)
Fifth and sixth graders meet at 4 pm and are studying the book of Daniel. Following supper, 7th through 12th graders meet at 5:30 pm to study Elijah.

Prayer Group  12/22/14  (9:00 AM)
All are invited to participate in this weekly hour of prayer that meets on Mondays in the Conference Room.

Cursillo 4th Day  12/23/14
There are three Cursillo 4th Day meetings weekly. The first meets on Mondays at 10 a.m., the second on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and the 3rd on Thursdays at 7 a.m. All meet in the Library. Call 762-2824 for more information.

Elders Needed  
Able elders, current and inactive, are encouraged to sign up to serve communion on the calendar in the main hallway.

Tuesday Youth Bible Study  12/23/14  (6:30 PM - 8:00 PM)
The girls are studying a series on Modesty, while the boys are studying the book of Acts.

Christmas Eve Worship  12/24/14  (4:00 PM - 12:00 AM)
Services are scheduled for 4 and 11 p.m. Communion will be observed at both services and the children's choirs will sing at the 4 p.m. service. The Adult Choir will sing at the 11 p.m. candlelight service.

Adult Choir Rehearsal  12/24/14  (10:00 PM - 10:45 PM)
Wednesday night choir rehearsal continues under the direction of Ric Sawyer, director of music.

Anniversary Cookbook  
A church cookbook is being compiled in celebration of the church's 125th anniversary. Submissions of "tried & true" recipes by members and friends of the church should be received by January 31, 2015. The cookbook will be first available for sale at the celebration Sundays of April 19 & 26, 2015.

11 a.m. Worship Returns!    (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
After many years of worshipping at 10:30 and 10:45 a.m., the second service will return to 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015.

The Art of the Cross  
This collection, in Schneider Hall, features the works of Bryant Galloway Whelan, Gail Cheney, Linda Fayard, Sara Goff, Jeri Hardy, Sandy Ford, and Judy Holbert and will run through the end of the year.
