First Presbyterian Church, founded in 1890, is a congregation of the Gulf South Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church located on the Gulf Coast in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Happenings at First Presbyterian Church

Advent 1, 2014  11/30/14  (8:30 AM - 11:45 AM)
Today is the first Sunday of Advent.

The Rev. Matt Mitchell will preach at 8:30 & 10:45 a.m. services of worship

Adult Choir Rehearsal  11/30/14  (10:15 AM - 10:30 AM)
Ric Sawyer, director of music, leads weekly rehearsals in the Choir Room.

Prayer Group  12/01/14  (9:00 AM)
All are invited to participate in this weekly hour of prayer that meets on Mondays in the Conference Room.

Deacons' Meeting  12/02/14  (6:00 PM)
The Deacons' monthly meeting is tonight in Trinity Hall.

Tuesday Youth Bible Study  12/02/14  (6:30 PM - 8:00 PM)
The girls are studying a series on Modesty, while the boys are studying the book of Acts.

Beneath a Shining Star  12/03/14  (5:15 PM - 7:00 PM)
Following supper, the children, under the direction of Callie Randle, will present a Christmas musical, "Beneath a Shining Star."

Composers: Susan Naylor Callaway, Tom McBryde It's dress rehearsal time for this year's Christmas pageant...and the Stage Manager is whipping the troops into shape for the performance. They're all here...angels, shepherds and stars. But the one thing missing is the true meaning of Christmas. Enter stage left, Mary and Joseph and the Child in the manger for a warm reminder of that first Christmas night.

WBS will resume next semester.

Adult Choir Rehearsal  12/03/14  (7:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
Wednesday night choir rehearsal continues under the direction of Ric Sawyer, director of music.

Cursillo 4th Day  12/04/14
There are three Cursillo 4th Day meetings weekly. The first meets on Mondays at 10 a.m., the second on Thursdays at 7 a.m. and the third on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. All meet in the Library. Call 762-2824 for more information.

BackPack Buddies  12/04/14  (10:00 AM)
Packing continues on Thursdays though out the school year. BackPack Buddies provides children from food-insecure homes with weekend meals during the school year. Contact Amy Brandenstein at 217-1073 for more information.

Anniversary Cookbook  
A church cookbook is being compiled in celebration of the church's 125th anniversary. Submissions of "tried & true" recipes by members and friends of the church should be received by January 31, 2015. The cookbook will be first available for sale at the celebration Sundays of April 19 & 26, 2015.

Elders Needed  
Able elders, current and inactive, are encouraged to sign up to serve communion on the calendar in the main hallway.

11 a.m. Worship Returns! 
After many years of worshipping at 10:30 and 10:45 a.m., the second service will return to 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015.
