First Presbyterian Church, founded in 1890, is a congregation of the Gulf South Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church located on the Gulf Coast in Pascagoula, Mississippi. It is our hope that you become personally acquainted with our church family. You'll find a diverse group of individuals with a common greeting for you: Welcome!

Happenings at First Presbyterian Church

 

WBS  10/01/14  (5:15 PM - 7:00 PM)
The fall semester of Wednesday Bible Study continues today with catered supper by Scranton's at 5:15 p.m. followed by activities for all at 6 p.m. Dinner is $5/person with a max of $20/family.

Tonight's menu is blackened chicken Alfredo, vegetables, salad, and dessert.

Adult Choir Rehearsal  10/01/14  (7:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
Wednesday night choir rehearsal resumes under the direction of Ric Sawyer, director of music. Preparation for the annual service of Lessons & Carols (12-14-14) has begun.

Cursillo 4th Day  10/02/14
There are three Cursillo 4th Day meetings weekly. The first meets on Mondays at 10 a.m., the second on Thursdays at 7 a.m. and the third on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. All meet in the Library. Call 762-2824 for more information.

BackPack Buddies  10/02/14  (10:00 AM)
Packing continues on Thursdays though out the school year.

BackPack Buddies provides children from food-insecure homes with weekend meals during the school year. These children receive a backpack containing six balanced meals and two healthy snacks at the end of every week. Our church is happy to host this ministry. Current needs include: ravioli, soup, mac-n-cheese, canned meats, Pop Tarts, cereals, fruit and grain bars, individual fruit cocktails, puddings, Jello, cheese crakces, Goldfish, juice boxes, etc. Contact Amy Brandenstein at 217-1073 for more information.

World Communion Sunday  10/05/14  (8:30 AM - 11:45 AM)
We join with Christians everywhere today observing the sacrament of the Lord's Supper at the 8:30 a.m. (contemporary) and 10:45 a.m. (traditional) services of worship.

All baptized Christians who understand the meaning and significance of the sacrament are invited to partake.

The Rev. Matt Mitchell will preach at both services.

Adult Choir Rehearsal  10/05/14  (10:15 AM - 10:30 AM)
Ric Sawyer, director of music, leads weekly rehearsals in the Choir Room.

Confirmation Class  10/05/14  (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM)
This is a class offered for our youth - 7th grade and older. It is an introduction to the church, the sacraments, Reformed theology and many other things vital to our understanding of our faith. It is for members and visitors alike. This is the method we use for helping our youth understand what membership in the church looks like. Classes run through October 19th.

Prayer Group  10/06/14  (9:00 AM)
All are invited to participate in this weekly hour of prayer that meets on Mondays in the Conference Room.

Elders Needed  10/07/14
Able elders, current and inactive, are encouraged to sign up to serve communion on the calendar in the main hallway. Elders are needed for January 11 and February 8, 2015, at both services.
